The Rotary Club of Dubbo West Inc began meeting at the Westside Hotel in April 1972. However, it was not until June that it received its charter from the District Governor Jim Evans of Newcastle.
The club started because the Dubbo Rotary Club wanted to broaden the Rotary membership in the community as it not only created The Rotary Club of Dubbo West, but another one a few years earlier.
However, the Rotary Club of Dubbo West was the first service club to be found on the western side of the Macquarie river.
The first President was Allan Bryant, a local electrician.
Today, the club has almost 50 members, who give their time to assist with the following activities:
  • Dubbo 4WD, Caravan, Camping, Fish and Boat Show
  • Dubbo Rotary Christmas Fair
Our biggest events are:
  • The Dubbo community Carols By Candlelight
  • Christmas Trailer Raffle
  • Rotary Rememberance Drive (planting of trees along the Mitchell Highway, just out of Dubbo towards Wellington)
We are proud to donate the funds we raise to local and international causes. Over the past, these have included:
  • Orana Early Childhood Intervention Centre
  • Western Care Lodge
  • Shelterbox Australia
