As President Michael closed out his year as President of the Rotary Club of Dubbo West, he took a few moments at the clubs changeover dinner held on the 28th June 2017 to reflect on the year.
"It has been a privilege to be the club's president for the year 2016-17" he said. "It is the members that make the club and I believe we have the best members. When the year started, I had many different goals, not all was achieved, but a foundation was made to be built on in future years".
Outgoing President Michael thanked the members for there unwavering dedication in their willingness to help with the clubs fundraising and community work. The efforts of the club helped to raise over $45,000 from the community to support projects both locally and internationally. Club significant donations were in support of the victims of the Dunedoo bush fire, Rotary's End Polio campaign, and support of the Dubbo Oncology Unit with funds to assist with the purchase of a much needed monitoring machine.
President Michael also noted the departures from the club, of Bal Dohnt who moved closer to his family, and the far sadder losses of Peter McDonald, Phil Link, and Mary Semmler who all passed away over the course of the year.
He finished by thanking his wife Camilla Griffiths who supported him throughout the year.
